Gold fish will swim upside down if they have a swim bladder infection, try feeding it fish food that sinks because, when it eats food at the top of the tank it swallows air that goes to it's swim bladder causing it to go upside down at the top or bottom of the tank.
Hope I Helped :)
The flamingo is a species that can eat with its head upside down due to its unique beak shape and feeding behavior. By filtering water through their beak, they can trap food particles such as small fish and algae while their head is positioned upside down.
Only when they drive really fast submarines...Actually, fish have what is called a swim bladder; this is what helps them with buoyancy, and to stay upright in water. When there is a problem with their swim bladder (or they are constipated!) they will have buoyancy problems, and in many cases, get stuck swimming upside-down.
Fish rely on their swim bladder to adjust their buoyancy and maintain their position in the water column. When fish stop swimming, the swim bladder may not be filled with enough gas to keep them upright, causing them to turn over. Additionally, some fish species have a natural tendency to rest on their sides or even upside down when they are not actively swimming.
It would not be wise to stack two 10 gallon aquariums together with one being upside down. If you add silicone to seal them together, you will not have any way to remove a portion of the aquarium to feed the fish or change the water.
They swim down over a mile towards the bottom of the ocean to hunt fish. To help them do this, they swim upside-down most of the way, and have collapsible rib-cages to alleviate some of the intense pressure.
As long as your fish is not upside down all the time, it is not dead. Most likely your fish has a bladder disorder and it cannot help but float upside down.
yes it can affect the fish because if you holed the fish upside down you can cause it not to breathe because all of the water is out of its system
there is no particular reason that your cat fish swims upside down but it could just be the kind of cat fish you have. it isn't abnormal for a cat fish to swim upside down because some can only swim that way.

If your fish cannot swim upright, is swimming on its side or upside down, it most likely has a swim bladder problem.
For some fish, this is a way of escaping predators, for others, such as an upside-down catfish, it allows them to find food (primarily algae) on floating wood.
If your fish is upside down, chances are that it has a swim bladder problem - you should research things to try, but it cannot always be cured.
