Ear mites leave a black sticky residue that you should be able to see. With a cotton swab, carefully wipe the inside of the ear and see if you remove a dark oily or grainy substance. If so, it could be ear mites.
This could be your bunny making a nest! When a rabbit is making a nest you will often see her running about with a mouthful of bedding, or dragging bedding from one section of the cage/room to another. If she is not pregnant, she may be having a phantom pregnancy... Now is the time to have her spayed! Sometimes rabbits will just choose to rearrange their homes, even male rabbits will occasionally do this.

Yes, Sevin is relatively safe to use on snakes. However, I have found the best way to get rid of mites is to place the infected snake in a covered bucket of water for a couple hours while you thoroughly clean out the cage, wash it and replace the bedding. The mites usually drown. May have to be repeated again after a few weeks if the mites return.
You will see small black dots, like poppy seeds under their scales. Buy a "No Pest Strip" from Lowes Hardware and put it next to their cage. You will see the mites dead on the bedding. Also when treating for mites clean the cage and unshredded use newspaper for bedding.
I'm not sure but I got rid of the in my kitten by frequent washing (3x a day), daily changing of its bedding, and brushing/combing fur after each wash. They were completely gone in about 4 days, changing the bedding is SUPER important because they will fall off into the bedding between washings.
No that would be a very drastic step to exterminate your house. You may have to fumigate your house but mites only live on the human body so it is only necessary to treat humans and clothing and bedding. There are several types of mites so it is important to identify which type of mite your are dealing with to get the correct treatment.
Allergy bedding is mostly used by asthma sufferers and those allergic to dust mites, as a way to curb the allergens associated with these creatures. As one ounce of dust contains around 42,000 dustmites, they can be quite the problem for those susceptible to such allergens.
It might mean that the hamster has mites, especially if it is scratching patches of fur off. It could also possibly be an allergic reaction, make sure your wood shavings and bedding are hamster specific - you should not use sawdust for example. You should take it to the vet if it continues.

The Scabies Mites burrow into the skin often leaving an 'S' shape and other people can be infected only by skin-to-skin contact. Itching will occur and is worse at night. The mites are in the areas of webs of the fingers; toes; around the genital area and under the beasts in women. Your family doctor should have a look to decide what type of rash you have and then treat it. Scabies can be treated very well with sulfur ointments and since the bite from Scabies Mites is an alergic reaction in some people then antihistamines. If it is Crusted Scabies it is important to wash or dry clean all bedding; vacuum sofas, etc.
Hermit crab mites are like head lice for crabs. They are small wingless insects that crawl around inside the shells of hermit crabs. And, just like lice, they have nothing to do with how clean or dirty the habitat or crabs are. Mites can hide out in hermit crab toys, bedding and even food.
