You shold fill it's bowl up and put more food in once it's empty which takes about a week for me, the length of time may be differant depending on bowl size and what you are feeding it but standard hamster food is the best thing with some veg.
Generally, if hamsters can fit it into their mouth and its not meat, they will eat it. However, like humans, they do prefer certain foods over others. This is not dictated by species, but rather by each individual hamster. For example, one Russian dwarf hamster may absolutely hate peas and no matter how many you give to it, it will always spit them back out. However, another Russian dwarf hamster may absolutely love peas and eat or pouch every one you give it.
Dwarf hamsters can eat seeds one week after they are able to eat solid foods. This is when they are about 4 weeks old.

For my hamster, I like to use the Oxbow brand. It has a good mix of grains and proteins and vitamins, so it's probably one of the most healthy foods for them. Even though it says all over the package that's it's good for their whole diet, I think that it's a good idea to give them a small amount of fresh food daily, such as a small carrot, or a couple of peas. Hope that helps!
