What is the difference between the meanings of the terms evolution and natural selection?

Evolution is the change in allele frequency over time in a population of organisms. Change over time and a fact. Natural selection is the nonrandom survival and reproductive success of randomly varying organisms and explains much about the fact of evolution.

Why did Charles Darwin started the theiry of evolution?

To explain the species problem, " that mystery of mysteries " which was the natural history problem of the day. From his observations and experiments Darwin proposed his theory of evolution by natural selection, which provided a mechanism for the observed fact of evolution.

Why is Darwin's theory of evolution better than Lamrack's?

Darwin's explanation for the fact of evolution was better than Lamarck's explanation and fit the fact of evolution. Natural selection solved much of the species problem, but acquired characteristics did not have the empirical support and explained nothing in the end.

When Darwin published his theory of evolution one strength of his work was?

The '' strength '' that really got it across to both scientists and lay people was the way he laid out his first chapter on artificial selection. People could progress from that fact of everyday life to natural selection much more easily than it could have been otherwise. Darwin deliberately wrote the book this way; '' one long argument. ''

Evolution and miracles are they opposite?

This is a touchy subject. While many believe that belief in God and belief in evolution conflict with each other, that is not necessarily the case. For one, evolution is a proven fact of existence. Everything evolves, or changes, over time. The questionable part is the explanation of that phenomenon. The most common and widely accepted explanation is the theory of natural selection, which most people simply see as evolutionary theory. This well-tested theory does NOT rule-out the existence of God. Many believe that God created the world, and that natural selection and evolution simply give greater insight into how it all may have happened.

Is natural selection a fact?

Technically, one should say that natural selection is a theory that explains a set of observations. However, the theory has been substantiated to such a degree that one might as well call it fact.

What is an example that the fact that a healthy deer can out turn a timber wolf?

Natural Selection

Which is more likely to be true natural selection or evolution?

Evolution, of course. Evolution can happen without natural selection in some cases; drift, flow. Generally though, natural selection causes evolution and then, by definition, would come first.

What is the theory of eveolution?

The theory of evolution by natural selection. Evolution is a fact explained by the theory. Short explanation. Natural selection is the nonrandom survival and reproductive success of randomly varying individuals.

Why is it the Darwin theory natural selection is nice?

Nice? The theory of evolution by natural selection is the best and best supported explanation for the fact of evolution we have, but it just is and a word such as " nice " would not always fit theory. Google Ichneumon wasp to see that natural selection is not always " nice. "

Who gave the theory of evolution?

There is no " theory of evolution " as evolution is a fact. The theory is; the theory of evolution by natural selection and explains much about the fact of evolution. Charles Robert Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace come up with the theory of evolution by natural selection, though natural selection is a phrase coined by Darwin.

Why is evolution theory not fact?

Evolution is both theory and fact. Moreover, the fundamental theses of the theory (common descent, natural selection) are so well supported by fact that they might as well be called fact.

What do you think of the theory of evolution?

It does not mater what anyone thinks about the theory of evolution by natural selection. The theory of evolution by natural selection is the best explanation we have for much of the observed and observable fact of evolution. The theory is internally consistent with the fact of evolution, it is supported by myriad lines of converging evidence and it generates testable predictions in the form of scientific hypothesis. The opinion of no one is needed by the theory of evolution by natural selection and educated people have come to accept the theory.

Should evolution be tought in schools?

Absolutely! This is not even a subject for discussion among educated people. Evolution is a fact and the theory opf evolution by natural selection explains that fact.

Did scientists believe ferrets went through natural selection explain?
