I knew the lady who owned the dogs, Mrs. Farley of Mt. View CA. She bred and raises Staffs/Pitbulls from the 30's on. I had a few of her dogs in the early 70's. Those were her dogs and no animal was protected in the making of that film. It was the real deal brutal scene. Mrs. Farley passed in '75.
