Obviously there are humans and their pets for starters. There are a lot of possible pets but if you are really unimaginative I've personally seen Dogs, Cats, Birds and Fish and at some point in my life I saw a ferret. Also, I'm not sure you consider them pets, but there are also horses. Chicago is a big city so someone has a rabbit, a guinea pig, a chicken and what ever other domestic animal you can think of. Not unicorns, not griffins but real animals. As for wild animals I've seen in the city limits: rabbits, squirrels, of coarse rats and pigeons, mice, deer, opossums, raccoons, coyotes and any number insects including worms if we are counting them . There was a cougar once but the cops shot it, and I'm guessing it didn't get a chance to breed. If you really want to get technical, there are a bunch of animals in the Lincoln park zoo and shed aquarium, but I doubt that is what you are asking about. Bottom line: the most dangerous animals in Chicago are humans, so that is either comforting or terrifying . ....you be the judge.
