Crocodiles are helpful because they keep the ecosystem they live in, in check, they keep the population of its prey in sufficient numbers, and they also help prevent the spread of some diseases that animals carry. For example, if a new species was introduced into the crocodiles habitat, and it was carrying a disease, the crocodile would eat it, stopping the spread of the disease to humans. The crocodile wouldn't necessarily die, because some animals like crocodiles are immune to some diseases that humans aren't. So you see, crocodiles maybe scary and ugly, but without them, our ecosystem would perish.
