If the gator went extinct ,it would take away the top predator in the everglades and would allow the prey animals numbers to explode to dangerous levels, throwing the ecosystem into chaos. But there are over a million gators in Florida, so the species is in no danger.

Their prey's population would skyrocket. The prey would then extinct their own prey, killing them off or forcing them to change their diets. Then the population of the extinct prey's prey would skyrocket, creating a horrid chain reaction that may or may not mellow as time passes.

If you would remove a crocodile from a food web then species would die out as they are not getting the certain source of food however; there could be an increase of certain types of species as they will no longer have that predator in the food chain. So the prey will survive.

If crocodiles went extinct the food they presently eat would be used by whatever animal they presently compete with for that food. This would cause a growth in the population of that species until it exceeded the food supply. It would then die off until it was in balance.At the end of the process the ecology would strike a new balance
