The safety distance between horses vary between different horses. For example, some horses may gey very angry and may even kick if there is a horse behind them, a long distance away. but typically with most horses you will find that an average safe distance would be about one horse length apart.
Wearing a helmet. At riding stables where you "rent" a horse for so much time, you will be required to wear a helmet. However, some riding stables will not require you to wear the helmet if you are of a specific age. I still recommend wearing a helmet at all times. Wearing a shoe with a small heel is also nice (no huge heels - "pumps") because your shoe will fit into the stirrup better. That is usually not required.
firstly you must wear hat at all times whitst on a horse, boots and glooves, and body protector if you feel unsafe. You Must be kind and gentle to the horse, be considerate in your hands so the horse does not get a hard mouth. Never walk behind a horse, even if you have been previously told it does not kick. always ask a horses owner before feeding the horse treats, as it may bite. always wear a hi-vis jacket or clothing when hacking, especially on road. When riding, Make sure the horses's tack is in the correct place and possition, if you are unsure, ask a more advanced rider. Lastly, you should NEVER hit or hurt your horse, as this will result in your horse being in pain, and it may result in them kicking/biting or even worse things happening back to you from the horse.

Horses are horses. Riding is riding. Safety is the same wherever you go. Just have a helmet handy, and be sure to use safe riding equipment. Never use a saddle, bridle, hackamore, martingale, bit, ANYTHING if it is torn or broken. They will completely break and most likely that will lead to a lose horse and a human on the floor.
There are several safety rules:1. Ensure that the horse is properly tacked up, comfortable, and of course trained for riding.2. Ensure that you, the rider are wearing proper safety gear, this includes a helmet and proper boots.3. Ensure that there is another person aware that you are riding, where you are going and when you'll be back.
