A lot depends on the animal being targeted and the country that its in poorer countries like Africa traps used are of the simplest and often home made like dead falls and wire snares larger animals are often taken with spear and bow and arrow trip wire traps as contrary to popular belief the poacher is often not well paid for his efforts it more often the middle man that collects the big rewards I have personally seen snow leopards that have been caught by using snares made from twisted copper wire that looked to have been taken from a junked car or truck and I have seen rare birds taken by the use of nets and by the simple method of spreading a sticky substance on roosting areas
