What can you do if your hamster stinks?

Yes, you can get a dust/sand bath for your hamster. Whatever you do, don't put it under water. It can get easily sick and cold. You can only clean it in water in case of a emergency.

A dust bath may cause respiratory problems, and most hamsters don't even roll in it. It is better to get sand because it is safer. Chinchilla sand is good, too. Just sprinkle the dust/sand over the hamster is it doesn't roll in it itself. Try to get as much sand/dust off as you can before letting your hamster run through the cage by stroking it.

The only reason the hamsters cage still smells is because 1. If you have a large trashbag or a trashcan in your room with all the bedding from before or droppings that might be making your room smell.
2. Or it's because of the hamster's bedding. l would recommend you to use CAREFRESH bedding. It's the best odor control and it's very safe.
3.You should check everyday for wet spots on the bedding and remove it and throw it away everyday, then put in dry bedding. after the whole week. throw everything away and clean out your hamster's cage fully.

Just cleaning it out regularly should stop it smelling, getting it a poo tray and filling it with cat litter can also stop the smell quite well

clean its cage at least once a week. when in a clean habitat, they clean themselves. their tongue works like magic, believe me :=)

Ok here is what I would do to my hamster.Give him a really clean home and clean him.

Either buy some new diffrent hamster bedding, or take that bedding out and put some more in from the bag of bedding.
