africanus inhabited the earth roughly 3 - 1.6 million years ago.

robustus dates from approximately 2.3 - 1.3 million years ago.

boisei inhabited eastern Africa approximately 2.5 - 1.2 million years ago.

They are said to be the oldest hominids known and little is actually known about their lifestyle as we only have a few specimens to study.
