You could get either a palomino or a chestnut. Since a palomino is a diluted chestnut, and a chestnut has no dilution genes, it will balance out the foal's genes so that it could be either color! Good Luck!

Chestnut is one of the two base colors for all horses (black is the other), Chestnut or red is characterized by a red colored body, the mane and tail may match the body color, be almost black, or be white / flaxen in color (Chestnut with a flaxen mane and tail is called sorrel).

Palomino is a chestnut based horse with one copy of the cream gene which will cause the body to lighten to a gold color on most horses. They can also be a very pale creamy color, or nearly black (called chocolate palomino.) With a white or silvery mane and tail.

On foals the color typically changes frequently and the best way to know what color it is is to have a genetic test done for red, cream and any other color genes you would like to look for.

Is it possible to have purebred palominos?

Palomino isn't a breed of horse, it is a colour. Answer 2: As stated above Palomino is a color, not a breed. The Palomino horse registries are color registries, not breed associations. You get Palomino coloring by breeding a horse with the cream gene to a chestnut and you should get a palomino. Any breed that carries both the cream and chestnut colorings can produce a palomino.

Where did a palomino horse come from?

Is palomino a breed or color of horse?

The Palomino registry is a color registry. The horse must be the correct color to be registered with the breed. A horse can be a palomino and not a member of the breed, but the breed has only palomino colored horses in it. Palomino is a breed and a color although it is most often used as the color for example i have a Palomino Dun Appaloosa

How do you determine if a palomino is a hybrid or a purebred trait?

Palomino is a color and not a breed produced by the introduction of the Creme gene on an otherwise chestnut horse. A palomino is eeCrcr and has to be heterozygous at the creme dilution locus. A homozygous creme horse that is otherwise chestnut at the extension site is eeCrCr which produces the double dilute color of cremello, a horse that is nearly white with blue eyes.

How fast is a Palomino horse?

Palomino is a color and not a breed, therefore a palomino colored horses speed will be determined by it's breed. Since Palomino can only exist in a breed where the red (chestnut) gene and cream dilution are present it will limit it to those breeds.A palomino horse of most any breed will be able to run at the average galloping speed of 18-25 MPH.A palomino colored Thoroughbred or Quarter Horse would be able to gallop at 25-45 MPH on average.

What is the palomino horses predotor?

Since palomino is a color and not a true breed, the predators would vary slightly depending on the horses location. Palomino is a chestnut horse that inherited one copy of the cream gene and was born palomino. That means that palomino horses can occur in any breed with both chestnut and cream colored horses. In most areas a horses predators are dogs/ wolves, big cats, bears, and humans.
