It might be dead, but it could be that both eyes are stuck together because of a little eye boogers.
You can flush it with normal saline. That is usually an over the counter product. Other eye drops for humans should work. Look to see if there is any drainage visiable. You may also use No Tears shampoo (Baby Shampoo) on a wet bathcloth to clean the outer eye. Rinse with clear water.
