Chicks often cannot eat the larger sized grains in sufficient quantity for proper nutrition so the mix is ground, moisture added, extruded and dried as a starter/builder feed called a "MASH". This food can come with extra vitamins and medication added when requested.
Ask for chick starter at any feed & grain store.
