∙ 12y agoA cat scratch is like any scratch, it depends on where you get scratched how much pain it will cause, but it is not like someone cutting you with a knife. After the initial pain of the scratch it is also like any other scratch you get and when it heals it itches! A cat raised to play rough from a kitten will play rough when they get bigger and they do not realize they are hurting you because when they were little it didn't bother you for them to bring out the claws.

Cats carry numerous bacteria in their saliva, such as Bartonella henselae, and this can easily be conveyed to their claws when they wash. In addition, toxoplasmosis is a disease caused by the Toxoplasma gondii protozoan, which is present in cat droppings, and can be transferred to a cat's claws.
