its easiest to see on a pink ear because their will be black bumps and a lot of black debris in his ears. on a black eared dog all those things will be there but if your unsure feel the ear. you will feel the bumps and debris will come off. a groomer or a vet will be able to tell you too if your dog has ear mites. ear mites aren't dangerous but if left untreated long enough the build up could cause deafness. though that is very uncommon.
