Silver langurs primarily live in various parts of South and Southeast Asia, including countries like Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, and Thailand. They inhabit tropical and subtropical forests, typically preferring locations close to water sources such as rivers or streams. These arboreal primates are known for their distinctive silver-grey fur and long tails.

The population for Douc Langurs is declining. In the last 30 years the population has declined by 50 - 80% and it is estimates it is going to continue to decline for the next 30 - 36 years. There are 500 - 700 individuals left of grey shanked douc langurs and some people think that douc langurs are on the brink of extinction whilst some other people think that douc langurs can be saved from extinction. Scientists also beleive that they may have found some new colonies of douc langurs in a area which they have not surveyed yet. douc langurs are in the 25 most endangered species. Whilst grey douc langurs are critically endangered red and black shanked douc langurs are just endangered although I think that they are on there way up the endangerment chart. Generally the population trend of the douc langurs is declining like most of the species on this planet... One of the strangest behaviors of langurs is how they hang out in groups. They will either hang out with all males or hang out with a group of females and offspring but will be the only male in that group.
Douc langurs are primarily preyed upon by large birds of prey such as eagles and pythons. In addition to these natural predators, douc langurs may also fall victim to hunting by humans for their meat or body parts, though they are protected by conservation laws in many areas.
