According to my psychology book there are three valid theories about dreams and all exclude generalized symbolic meaning of things. If it were your subconsciousness "writing" those dreams, trying to tell you something, then it would have to be something that you understand, unless everyone's subconsciousness spoke the same picture language. There wouldn't be a point in asking others, because how would they know what your subconsciousness needed to express?
