Sometimes you don't know as the flea actually spends very little of its life cycle on the dog. Sometimes they just jump on and bite the animal, then off. Various ways you can tell is to rub the hair the opposite way it lies and look for flea poop, little black specks. Look around the base of the tail and on the belly. You can also use a special flea comb to comb through the hair. The best thing to do is to prevent flea infestations. Use a once a month flea preventative such as Frontline, Advantix, etc. to put on their skin. You need to keep the fleas off of your dog as they can cause skin problems, hot spots, tapeworm infestations, as the flea can carry the tapeworm eggs which then can be passed on to the dog when he bites at the flea and accidentally ingests the flea. Now your animal has tapeworms too. So keep the fleas off of your dog by just assuming he has fleas and use a preventative for fleas on your dog.
Operation Sand Flea happened in 1989.

Well, I've experienced sand gnat bites before so. When you first get it on the first day it should look like a little red dot or pale dot. the second day, you may start to itch a little and it get a little redder. But be careful of how much you itch it because it might start to bleed or be infected. What you do if it really itches is to go to a drug store around you somewhere and get itching cream extra strength. then you must apply it on your face, but not to much like 3-4 times. that should do it. but you also may get 1-20 bites somewhere on your body.
