There is no strict leader in prides, but the dominance is usually up to males who live in groups of around 3-4 per pride or in separate coalitions of even higher. It's not unusual for females to assume dominance sometimes, particularly in captivity. Any other hierachy is normally reserved for eating - cubs need the least as they can get their mother's milk, but males will step aside in dire times.
