What animal does felt come from?

Felt can be made from nearly any animal since it is a nonwoven fabric made from hair fibers, but most often it is made from sheeps wool, and more recently alpaca. The sheep aren't killed in the process just given a "haircut" and sent on their way. The wool is washed, carded and felted. There are also synthetic felts which are made from plastics and a new bamboo felt made from a combination of bamboo and wool. Hope this helps Andie- American Felt and Craft

Are t-shirts recyclable?

T-shirts are certainly reuseable if washed thoroughly. T-shirts made of natural fibers like cotton or linen are also recyclable; they can be used to make fine paper of exceptional strength. Similarly, paper money is often made from recycled denim jeans, because the fibers in the denim are so long and strong, giving the finished product high strength and durability. Recycled cotton and linen is so expensive that these fibers are only used in specialized applications like making dollar bills.

Why is are some cotton shirts itchy and some not?

I think that it depends on the length of the cotton fibers. Cheaper cotton shirts are usually made with shorter cotton fibers. How they are woven is also a factor. I am having a terrible time with cotton shirts itching me - even after a dozen or more washes. However I have some Tori Richards shirts from Honolulu made with cotton lawn that feel like silk and are totally fine. I have started to find that even 60 cotton / 40 rayon blend itch. Help
