Dogs live in the moment, they may miss mom for comfort reasons but will soon replace her with what they have. Dogs hold no grudges and live in the now. Both pup and mom will be just fine.

A puppy can be taken away from its mother and litter at 5 weeks of age. Alot of people say its not good for the puppy but it does not hurt them in anyway. You can start feeding puppies soft gog food at 4 weeks old and if they are eating good they can be taken at 5 weeks old.

Can puppies be taken away from their mother as soon as they open their eyes?

No. Taking a puppy away at such a young age would be severely detrimental to its health and mental development. Puppies need to be fully weaned, and gone through the socialisation stage (which happens around 6 - 8 weeks) with their own littermates, mother, and humans before they can be taken away. Puppies that have left before this time will most likely have socialisation problems later on.
