If you can't stop beating your dog then you are just plain sick, and no way deserve that poor dog. It is usually caused by stress, and needing something to take it out on. My advice: if you can't stop beating the dog, get rid of it, it doesn't deserve the pain you inflict on it.

Your pet learns that your presence or approach is not to be anticipated with joy but with dread. If you beat your canine badly enough, you'll lose money by having to take her to the vet to get her wounds seen to, or, alternatively, if you don't seek treatment for her, ultimately you will be fined for animal cruelty.
Anyone truly interested in raising a well-behaved dog can take her to positive-method obedience classes to discover the very effective, nonviolent ways of training a pet.
