he is a Komodo Dragon, Correction: Mr. Kipling is an Asian Water Monitor Lizard. Often confused with Komodo Dragons. Both are of the genus Varanus, but the subgenus is different. The Asian Water Monitor Lizard (Mr. Kipling) is of the subgenus Soterosaurus Salvator, whereas a Komodo Dragon is is of the subgenus Varanus Komodoensis.
