It's a magical mysterious dog-like animal that no one has seen, but his presence is known by inexplicable attacks on livestock that do not resemble attacks made by other predators. It's part Hispanic folklore, for lack of a better way to ascribe the story, and I can't remember if my information was regarding specific incidents in Florida or Cuba or someplace in South America. I do remember a woman telling a story in Spanish about an encounter with what she was sure was el chupalabre: she was driving at night down her dirt driveway, which was lined on each side with thick brush and bushes, when something up ahead leaped into her path; it bared it's teeth and flashed a pair of glowing yellow eyes and seemed about to lunge onto the hood when.....she closed her eyes, too frightened to watch, there was a thud and the car shook, then nothing....she opened her eyes and the road ahead was clear and quiet. Chupalabres do something weird when they supposedly eat a goat or something; veterinarians and other animal investigator-types cannot identify what animal attacks livestock sporadically in this manner.
