Do squirrels chase birds?

I had a squirrel on the railing of my deck this afternoon eating a bird. I couldn't tell what type of bird, but it was about the size of a finch. He stripped off the feathers and was chewing the head and body. Mostly the head. NO!!!!!!!!! SQUIRRELS ARE CUTE AND CUDDLY!!!!!! THEY ARE NOT CARNIVORES!!!!!! THEY EAT NUTS AND FRUT YOU DING DONG!!!!!!!! Squirrels eat birds in my wooded yard every day. Yesterday a bunch of crows were screeching high in a treetop where a squirrel was pillaging a nest. No other preadator would be 70 feet high in a tree. We listen every day and small birds are attacked and suffer for 2-3 minutes. As a result, there are very few birds in our yard where they should be plenty. I am going to buy a pellet gun today to thin out the squirrel population in the hope that we will actually see some birds this spring. It is foolish to say these things eat fruit and nuts and only go after birds when they are desperate. Yes, they do if they can't find any nuts or so. My parakeet, Tony, died a few months ago so we buried him in our backyard. Then, a couple weeks later i saw some squirrels hanging out around Tonys grave, so i ran out to see what was going on. apparently, i was heartbroken when i saw tonys head, claws and tailfeathers sprawled all over the floor. his body was all gone and bite marks were all over. I loved tony like a newborn baby, so this was really a big deal for me. im trembling as im writing this. I can barely look at a squirrel again... ( i dedicated tony to everything, including my username for wikianswers.) I love you tony, may you fly freely in the heavens.......

Why do you think some animals have longer life spans than others?

because they are more smart when they get older and they should know everything that they need to know to survive. The other animals probaly didnt learn or get taught by their mother or their father. Some animals have bad homes and they don't get trained when they are youth stage. Some animals are really stupid and they don't know what to do and they have a blank mind because people who own them don't train them so they don't really know much of anything. Hope this helps! -Pocatz _____________________________________________________________________ Well, some animals, like turtles, can live very long! Yes, they move slow, like snails, but they save energy throughout their entire lives! In Finding Nemo, a turtle was about 150 years old, and his son was about 100 years old. The son went to school sith Nemo, I think. So slow animals, also like sloths, live longer than many others no matter how slow the can run. Edited by: QWERTY
