of Lope
The lope also known as the canter is a 3 beat movement that is slightly faster then the trot and slower then the gallop, although all horse have different canters (some less easy to ride then others), I would try to get the fastest trot you can with out braking inot the canter and try to grip with your legs as much as you can to where it looks as if you're bum is glued to the saddle. This will stregthen you're legs and help you be more ready for the lope. as try to lot of lunges and other exercises not on the horse to strengthen you're legs. Also try counting this might calm you done when you're loping, 123,123,123,123... this can also help you focus. good luck loping!

Lope or loping is the term used for the western version of a canter used in shows. It should be noted that loping and jogging are primarily only seen at western shows and not on real working ranches as they do not move forward well enough to be practical.
