A pony
it is the same as a big horses name, it is called a mare
I'm not really sure of the horses name, but at 4 years old he was 23 hands high and weighed in at 2800 pounds, He is a Shire horse.
No. A pony is not a horse at all. It is a member of the Equine family but it is not a horse. Here are your classifications, you have a miniature horse which is any horse under 48 inches of height, then you have a pony which stands at a height of anywhere between 14.2 hands and 48 inches, then you have your regular horse that is anything about 14.2 hands. So I have a little different take on this thread. A pony is any animal (horse) that is under 14.3. Anything above 14.3 a horse. Any breed can produce a pony sized animal.Miniature horses are called horses because they were "bred down" to the size they are without the use of any of the pony breeds...or so the story goes.Miniature horse people like the idea of miniatures as a small horse as opposed to a pony hence the name. However, from a technical standpoint, based only on height, they are a pony.
well for a long time it was Radar, a belgian, is said to be 6'7.5" (about 19.3 hands). But now there is a five year old Shire named Noddy that is 20.1 hands and still growing. this is a neat read about him http://www.horsetalk.co.nz/news/2008/04/086.shtml
It is a special measure that people use to measure horses. It is four inches and you measure the horse or pony from their withers (where the mane starts on the horse's back) down to their feet.
If a horse is under 14.3 hands it is still a horse and there isn't a specific name for it. It would be called a pony if it was under 12.3hh

the height of the worlds tallest horse stands at 21 hands hooves to withers! that huge gelding's name is Radar
a pony
You need to have a measuring stick. Make sure your horse is on level ground with all four feet on the ground. Place the level on the horses withers to measure it. The horses height is measured in hands
A colt is the the name given to a new born horse 99% of the time but correctly a colt is a baby male horse. A foal is the proper term for a new born. If I were to ask if the horse had a baby I would say has your horse foaled yet? Generally speaking a foal is usually reffered to the new and a couple weeks later then called colt. you will hear a lot of old cowboys refer to the males as horse colts and females just colts. The female young horse is called a filly until she is bred then making her a mare. the male becomes a stud unless castrated then called gelding.
A female horse under 4 years is a filly. A male horse under 4 years is a colt. Any baby horse under a year old is a foal.
a shire is the worlds tallest horse, definately. You never know, sometimes a baby horse grows taller than it should.
his name is Poe standing at 20.2 hands, so 6 foot 10 at the shoulder

All domestic horse breeds fall under the exact same scientific name of Equus Ferus Caballus.
