Bombay cats are ideal for a person who spends a bunch of time at home and can give lots of love and attention to the cat. Some are very vocal (mine sure is) and some are almost silent, but either way they love attention. People call them "lap fungus" because once they get on a person's lap it's hard to latch them off! They are very, very affectionate and are the perfect family, indoor kitty. Bombay cats are really just big sweethearts. I've spent over an hour just petting mine's fur as he purred - my other cat, a Ragdoll mix, would start chewing off my hand if I did that for more than just a few minutes. They are very companionable, sweet, intelligent, outgoing, beautiful, loyal, and absolutely wonderful in every way! There are very few breeds better suited for a home than this one. Go Bombays!

I'm pretty sure that Bombay Cats are only called that because that's where they origanated. That means that you can probably buy them from a local breeder. Cat Fancy and other cat magazines have an index of breeders, or you could check the newspaper.
I have two cats and a dog and they're all great together. If you introduce them when they're young it's best and you need cats with a boisterous personality and dogs that are more laid back are best. it's more about the animals personality then anything else. At the moment I have a Persian cat, a pretty Bombay cat and a Staffy dog. I used to have a big German Shepherd and she got along well with the cats too.
