Called "panting" ... since cats can't sweat like humans, they can only cool off themselves through the glands in their tongue.
-- I disagree. It's not normal for cats to pant or breath through their mouths. A cat breathing through it's mouth is generally an indication of a problem. Breathing hard with an open mouth can be a sign of a serious heart problem. You should check the tongue and gums for "pinkness." If these are losing color or taking on a blueish cast, then it is clearly a circulation problem and your feline's days are probably numbered. Mouth-breathing in cats is a condition that requires a Veterinarian.
Because all Domos are made with their mouthes open.

To keep a cat's mouth open for a dental exam, gently grasp the sides of the cat's mouth behind the canines and apply gentle pressure to open the mouth. You can also use a special cat mouth opener tool if available. Make sure to proceed carefully and calmly to avoid causing stress or discomfort to the cat.
The mouth of a hungry animal is referred to as a "gape." It is the open position of the mouth as the animal anticipates feeding or is ready to consume food.
The verb "gape" means to look or stare with a look of wonder, amazement or surprise, generally with one's mouth open. It can also mean to open one's mouth wide.

Yes, if you hold your hand over your mouth. There is no mechanism to prevent it however the air you breath will follow the path of least resistance. if your big mouth hole is open why would it travel down the more constricted path of your nose?
Your mouth is probably open alot, in general or at night when sleeping. This makes your saliva glands stimulated, making pools which eventually run over your mouth. Mouth breathers have this problem. Try breathing through nose.
get a donut open your mouth BITE move jaw up and down you finally have a jawline.
sudden open mouth breathing panting agitation dilated pupils while still panting struggling not to be held
Nothing much. It isn't like your throat is going to rot away or anything, but I guess that depends on how wide you open your mouth. If you open your mouth as wide as it can go for weeks on end, it is very unhealthy for you for dust and other particles (life forms even) can go in and that wide open mouth probably means that you have trouble time breathing and need medication. Also, it will suck if an insect fell in but I'm pretty sure all these possibilities won't happen to you if you only slightly open your mouth while sleeping.
English bulldogs are brachycephalic dogs. This means that they have a squashed face, short muzzle and narrow nasal passages. Gurgling noises are commonly heard when bulldogs breathe. If you are concerned about the sound your bulldog makes while breathing, have a veterinarian examine it.
