Any rabbit can be a life-long friend. If you are a beginner, you should consider adopting a Dutch, Lop, Jersey Woolly, or an English Spot! These are most gentle, unless you make them mad.
Any rabbit from an animal shelter can be a great friend to! They just want a home, they will appreciate anybody who adopts them. (It's the same with cats)!
The only animal that should be kept with a pet rabbit is another rabbit, and they must be bonded. Other animals can play with the rabbit when your'e around to supervise, assuming they get along, but you can't leave them alone with each other. Even "best friends" sometimes act differently when the human owner isn't around. Too many stories have ended up in death that began with animals being "best friends" (like a dog and a rabbit). Even two rabbits can fight to the death (especially two unaltered males), so only house them together if they're "bonded." See the related link below for more information.
Other rabbits, and sometimes guinea pigs.

No. As fun as it may seem, putting a wild rabbit with a pet rabbit is a poor idea. Either the wild rabbit or the pet rabbit will very likely act aggressively toward the other and attack it, and even possibly kill it. Furthermore wild rabbits have the possibility of bring all sorts of diseases that your pet rabbit might not be able to handle.
