My 1 year old kelpie border x can easily reach speeds over 50km an hour. I have trouble keeping up with her at full speed on my bike. Not sure if this is normal as she is much faster than my other dog.
The breed of dog that sits on the tuckerbox is an Australian Kelpie

Anatolian shepherd
It totally depends on breed of that kelpie. Average age of kelpie is 10-14 years. The kelpies are easy to groom & are an average shedder.
My 10 yo female ridgeback x kelpie is 35kg. She has no health problems (not even arthritis). She has a few lumps / fatty deposits, but no cancer. She is a long dog like a ridgeback but her height is slightly taller than a kelpie. She has the ridgeback look and laziness inside with a gentle , but the energy of a kelpie when outside (especially in the water). She doesn't bark, bite, jump or dig and is very well behaved but can be unpredictable at times with other dogs (an age / tolerance thing I think as this is fairly new behaviour). She doesn't like yapping dogs that jump at her.
A Kelpie is more likely to be owned by a farmer who owns livestock (particularly one who lives in Australia) as the Kelpie is a dog bred for herding purposes. The Kelpie may also be owned by an owner (very likely Australian) looking for an active dog, an owner in other parts of the world interested in rare breeds or the Kelpie, or a person who is a fan of Red Dog or the movie (Red Dog was a Kelpie and Australian Cattle Dog mix).
Yes, the Australian Kelpie sheds more than the average shorthaired dog.

An Australian kelpie is a breed of dog from Australia. Australian kelpies are well known for BACKING,this is where a dog, jumps on to a sheep or cattle's back then jumping forward on to another sheep or cattle's back to get to the front of them.

There are a couple of breeds of sheep dogs commonly used in Australia. The Australian kelpie is a good dog for herding and guarding sheep. The border collie also herds sheep and is an excellent "eye" dog - that is, it controls the sheep by using its eyes to almost hypnotise or " set " the sheep to move in particular directions.
It's either a Kelpie or Border Collie
Yes of course. We have a border collie/Kelpie. His father was 100% Border Collie and his mother was 3/4 Border and 1/4 Kelpie. We got him at a Cattle Auction here in the Central Valley of California. A lot of the ranchers around here breed the Border Collie with a Kelpie for use on their ranches.
A Kelpie is the most loyal, protective and smart dog that i have ever had.
