I know everyone wants to see a real wild mustang, but thers no such thing. All horses in the world are owned by someone and not wild. Even if you see horse running "wild" in an open space they have an owner and are not wild ANSWER 2 yes all mustangs are owned by someone but if I'm right you want to know where they roam freely. True Mustang will have a brand on their neck placed there by the U.S. government animal management.(usually it is on their neck by a Freezebrand that discolors their hair permently) Then you would want to check out Montana, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado for starts. Mine is from the Montana area. He is now here in Texas with me where he will remain for life.
