Keep feeder away from trees and mounted on metal rod
You can, but it's better to have them several feet apart.
Depends... If you have a plastic big milk jug, cut the hole out and hang it up and put in bird seed, atomatic bird feeder. Glass ones you can wrap colored paper around the bottle and tape it, then you can put designs on it. Then it's a pencil cup!
well the talons help the bird grab food or hang on to things
I've done it, but it takes a lot of patience. I've also taken some great up-close photos of them while they were feeding. I even have a photo of them feeding from my hand (the feeder is in my palm). Hang a humming bird feeder low enough so you can watch them at eye level while they feed. Watch them from a distance to see when their busiest feeding time of the day is. You have to stand very, very still, about 2 feet away from the feeder, and try not to even blink while they are feeding. After a day or so, when they are used to seeing you, take the feeder down and place it in your palm, with your arm out stretched. Do this during their busiest feeding time when there will be more of them present. Hold your outstretched arm, with the feeder in the palm of your hand very, very still. You may even have to put something to brace your arm on. The birds should then begging to feed from the feeder, then gradually light on your hand and/or arm.
One: stop foxes and other ground-based scavengers from getting it. Two: If he put it on the ground it would get dirty. Three: Why wouldn't he hang a dead chicken off a tree?
To create a squirrel baffle DIY for your bird feeder, you can use a large plastic or metal dome or cylinder that is placed above the feeder. This will prevent squirrels from climbing down onto the feeder and accessing the bird food. You can attach the baffle to a pole or hang it from a tree branch to effectively protect your bird feeder from pesky squirrels.
may be the bird is not hungry
Squirrels, cats, dogs, cold. To prevent those: buy a squirrel baffle (a tool that hangs on a birdhouse and is slippery so they fall off) get an indoor cat hang the bird feeder where your dog cannot get to it and feed the birds all year so they stay during the winter.
It would be a good idea in a very high tree. Or more easy a tree with flowers.
You can, but it's better to have them several feet apart.
I suggest buying a hummingbird feeder and filling it with sugar water (hooded orioles like drinking the sugar water from a hummingbird feeder) Then, hang the humming bird feeder in a bird cage outside. Attatch a string to the bird cage door and hold the string. Go inside and watch the cage from your window. When the hooded oriole goes in the cage, pull the string and the door will close.
just use ordinary bird deed and hang it from a tree like you would a bird feeder. If you can't get bird seed, just use ordinary nuts, seeds and berries. just don't put them in the open or the squirrel may not risk it
A hinky pinky for a bird feeder could be "fly guy supply." But really, who cares about fancy names? Just make sure you've got some seeds in there, hang it up high, and watch those birds chow down. Happy bird watching, my friend.
I've found that if you put out a bird feeder, you will feed the squirrels! LOL I saw a post on another site that had the following squirrel treat recipe: Take a pinecone and tie a string around the center with about 4' left for hanging. Use a butterknife or spoon to fill all the crevasses with peanut butter. Roll in birdseed, then hang it outside from a tree or other support. The original poster came back and made a comment that you might want to use a thin wire to hang it, as one of her squirrels keeps chewing through the string and dragging the treat away! Hope this helps, Marti
Hang thistle seed in a squirrel-proof feeder either from a tree branch or a pole in an open area that allows birds to easily access the seeds while keeping squirrels at bay. Thistle seed is best suited for finches, sparrows, and other small birds that have narrow beaks to feed on the small seeds.
Homemade gifts are always great to give. Some ideas for gifts made of wood are: a planter planted with flowers, a picture frame or even a bird feeder to hang on the porch or on a tree.
After the bird is dispatched, yes. It is a good idea to hang the bird to drain the remaining blood.
