The amount of time it takes can depend on whether you're buying eggs from a grocery store or getting eggs from domestically owned chickens.

Assuming you are storing them properly, commercial eggs have a 45 day shelf life. they can be good for two or three weeks after that, but it depends on the egg.

Fresh eggs from domestic chickens, because they don't have to be transported or FDA approved, can last for 2 1/2 to 3 months. In my experience, they are better than commercial eggs because domestic chickens tend to be healthier and have better nutrition. Plus the chickens aren't pumped up with pharmeceuticals to keep diseases out of the eggs.

If an egg is bad, you will get a foul odor upon breaking it.

Good luck.
