Generally about a year of age, give or take, is when the adult coat starts to take over. My bichon had a puppy coat for less than a year, but others I've known have taken over a year to lose their puppy coat.

Unless a puppy that young has gotten into some really nasty stuff, bathing a dog that young is not recommended. The mother will have been regularly licking her puppies clean. A bath will remove many of the dog's natural oils from the fur, and a puppy can get sick if accidentally swallowing soap.

these colors usually only apply to labrador retrievers. if the puppy has all black fur, than he is a black lab, if he has all brown fur than he is a chocolate lab.
