I don't have a rat but I do have 4 mice and one of them gave birth (brother brought me a pregnaut mouse) It depends how old it is if it is under 5-6 weeks it needs it's mum. If you do not have the mum and it is not on solids yet you will sadly have to give it up - to a pet shop or rescue organisation. If its eyes are open and is on solids give normal rat food.
