Raccoons are opportunistic eaters as well as livers. In short, they will live anywhere they can find shelter. They are not especially afraid, although cautious, of humans, so are not to intimidated to live in the same structures.

Raccoons are native to North America, ranging from Canada to Mexico, and New Maine to Alaska.

However, raccoons have been introduced in France, Germany, and the former Soviet Union, either by accident (escaped pets or exhibits) or intentionally (for fur hunting). Raccoons also live in the wild in 42 of the 47 prefectures of Japan as a result of escaped pets, and still remain one of the most popular exotic animals imported into the country.
Raccoons have a wide range of habitats - hardwood swamps, floodplain forest, fresh and saltwater marshes, farmland, and prairies. Raccoons are very adaptable animals and can be found in many cities. They can be found in North, Central and South America, and Caribbean Island.
Racoons live in forests, towns. & cities. they like to wash their food before eating it. Raccoons also look into garbage cans for food. ( they will eat anything that looks interesting! they normally eat: fruit, insects, & garbage
