! We have 2 male Himalayan guinea pigs we got from a breeder in Pittsburgh, PA. I don't know where you live, whether it is close to Pittsburgh (a convenient pick up for you). In any case, the breeder's name is Jodie and I can give her your number if you are interested. We are also driving to Louisville, KY during Thanksgiving and can deliver one/two if you live closer to this city. Jodie has some nice piggies- a lot of personality.
Sincerely, Stephanie

It is spelled "guinea pig". You got it right! :)
There are 7 types of guinea pigs that are recognised world wide! The main types of guinea pigs, (the ones your mot likely to find at your pet store) Are the breeds, American and the abyssinian. The other 5 breeds are, the teddy, peruvian, silkie, texel and coronet. There are also other breeds that arn't classified as pure bred breeds and a classic example of this is the hair-less guinea pig.
The phenotype of the black guinea pig is black, and the pheno type of the white guinea pig is white.
go into 4h and they do guinea pig showing for all ages
I know a few.... white crested, teddy, American, abyssinian, peruvian, silkie, abyssinian satin, coronet, peruvian satin, silkie satin, teddy satin, texal.
The best guinea pig to keep as a pet is either the American or the abyssinian. Although if you have the time and patience to groom your guinea pig every night the peruvian, silkie, texel or coronet may be the perfect breed for you. If you have a busy lifestyle and won't get much time to be with your guinea pig, then the best guinea pig for you would be the American breed. They cope well with being alone, but they love listerning to music! So keep that radio on! Although I highly recommend the Abyssinian guinea pig as they are very intelegent and love company or just to cuddle up with you on the couch!
There are 7 recognised breeds of guinea pig in the world, including the Abyssinian, Teddy, Peruvian, American, Silkie, Textel and the Coronet. Each of these breeds are recognised by breeders and shows world-wide... Other breeds inclue mutations of these guinea pigs, like the extremely rare hairless guinea pig. Found mostly only in America!
