Why did mammoths have smaller ears than modern elephants?

Modern elephants ears' act as a cooling system for their entire bodies...blood is pumped through the ears, which dissipate heat into the air around them. Since Mammoths lived in colder climates, they would not need ears of this size. In addition: Living in freezing conditions, without smaller ears able to be covered by the fur, the ears would be subject to frostbite.

What type of mammals live in caves?

Mammoths, bears, elephants+++Really? There no mammoths left though I dare say elephants might shelter in rock-shelters if any exist where they live. Bears might use caves (again, if available locally to them) as dens or forhibernation. The predominent cave-dwelling mammal is the bat - using caves as roosts, nurseries and hibernaculae but emerging at dusk to feed outside. There are no known fully cave-dwelling mammals.

Elephants started out as wooly mammoths but after the ice age they all died and there became elephants elephants and wooly mammoths are not related, a good example are humans, over time, we have apparently become more attractive (although this is very debatable, there are still a lot of ugly people), but it is known as a fact that humans have become taller, for proof, if you ever go to a historical building, you can observe that the stair cases are narrow, the fossil record also shows that humans have become taller
