Some breeds shed too much
Some breeds cause people to have Allergies
Some breeds are more resistant to house breaking
Some breeds are more prone to chew on things
Some breeds get longer hair needing more grooming
Some breeds have more health issues
Some breeds bark or whine too much
All of these are true. There is no such thing as a perfect dog, as one will fall into at least one of these categories. However, while these is no perfect dog, there may be a perfect dog for you. Best bet is to research a specific breed that interests you.

Pets are bad for many reasons. They can be a nuisance at night, making noises, and they cost a heap of money. Some pets turn feral, and heaps get jealous of little kids. People don't pick up after them as well. As you can see, pets can be bad for heaps of reasons.

I believe children should have pets, to teach them about responsibility, compassion and mortality. The question however is why should they not have pets. Children should not have pets because they are flighty, easy to forget, not very gentle, do not understand the animal can die, will ignore a smell until mommy or daddy take care of it, and because they like a puppy one day then the next they want to get rid of it and get a dinosaur.
