Some predatory animals form groups (like packs of wolves, or prides of lions) to increse their chances of hunting a big meal; even though their are more mouths to feed, wolves have a better chance of bringing down a huge moose if they hunt together in packs. They cooperate and work together to do this, and also wolves/lions, etc are social and enjoy each other's company.

Prey animals group together becuase there is safety in numbers, and attacking predators have more difficulty in choosing an animal to attack because there are so many, and it becomes confusing to them.
