A dog will rub it's face in the grass to try and pick up a scent. For example, if a deer comes through your yard, and your dog smells the scat in the yard, it will roll it's face in it in order to smell like the deer so it can hunt it without being detected.

If a female (or male) dog rubs her butt on the floor it can be that it is dirty and she is trying to clean it, she may have worms, she may be in heat, or the anal glands may need to be expressed.

If you have a groomer he/she can take care of expressing the anal glands. If the dog is dirty you can clean their bottom yourself. If she has worms and you look at the anus you will see what appears to be grains of rice around the anus, this indicates worms. She will need to be wormed so in that case take her to the vet.

Your vet or vet tech can express the anal glands as well, but be prepared to pay for it. Whereas your groomer would likely do it for free. If she is in heat have her spayed to avoid unwanted pregnancy, and a litter of pups who may not ever get homes.

Maybe because they have something in there eye.

That's why you have to wash your dogs face everyday so if want get dirty with a cloth or a wipe (good for dogs).
