Dogs smell their own butt and the butts of other dogs as a way to gather information about each other. They have special scent glands in their anal region that produce a unique odor that carries important social and health information. It's a natural behavior for dogs to sniff each other's butts as a form of communication and identification.

Dog's don't have hands to scratch their butts with, so they scoot to scratch an itch. Sometimes when their butts itch, it means they have worms, and then you have to buy them some worm medicine.
dogs will drag they're bottom on the grass, floor, carpet etc.. when they have full anal glans. they get tight and uncofertabe. therefore the dogs rum they're butts on the ground to release some of that anal juice to relive pain. if your dog is doing this take it to a groomer and have them release there anal glands.. you can also do it at home, but its not a pretty sight! good luck!!
