Why do ducks attack other ducks?

yes ... that's the way you get baby ducks. The different breeds of ducks are pretty distinct. That's what all the pretty plumage is about. It makes sure that the separate breeds don't inter-breed. Muscovy ducks and Roan ducks can inter-breed but the offspring will be infertile. We have a batch of ducklings that hatched on Wednesday. Six of them are pure Pekins; the Aflac duck. The Pekin hen also mated with Mallards and has five crossbred as a result. The coloration is incredible and hard to describe. Ducks may attack other ducks due to competition for resources such as food, nesting sites, or mates. Aggression can also result from territorial disputes or to establish a pecking order within a group.

With ducks there is always a pecking order or who is top duck. They do fight with each other. If one duck is being picked on and it is in your own flock than it is best to fence them apart from one another but allow them to see each another. They have to have time to adjust to the new members of the flock.

Not usually, but this does happen on occasion in the wild. When a female duck has come to the point in her yearly molt when she loses her primary flight feathers, she looses the ability to fly. Occasionally, groups of unmated drakes (unmated male ducks) will attack a female all at once in attempt to mate with her. Since she cannot fly to escape, she may drown. This kind of thing can happen even when females still have their flight feathers, if there are too many drakes. Though it sometimes seems that a single male is drowning a female duck when mating, there usually is no concern. The single drake is not strong enough to keep her underwater for too long.

Yes they do. I was shocked when I took my daughter to the park to feed the ducks. About ten ducks where holding one down on the ground and pecking away at his head, they were actually eating his flesh. Horrible!

Yes Chickens and ducks do get along. Keep them separate when they are small as the chickens peck at the ducks because they are darker. We have our chickens and ducks together now and they get along just fine. You have to get the non medicated food though as the ducks cannot have the medication that allot of chicken feed has. Talk to someone where you are purchasing the birds.
