In my opinion...it is mostly due to unfounded/irrational fear and ignorance. There are a great number that are killed "accidentally" by fishing nets and shark nets that are supposed to keep sharks away, but often do the opposite. Some are killed for meat (i.e. "shark steaks). There is also the deplorable act of "finning" for the lucrative, unsustainable, and environmentally destructive business of shark fin soup.

and normally they do it for meat as said and sometimes, say if a person has been killed by a shark they go out and try and kill the shark that killled that person, which is reallly unfair!!!! :((((

∙ 13y agoMost times sharks react to people as if the people are prey. They swim and eat. They don't look just for people, but if you are in the water and they are hungry, they will see if they can eat you. They have eaten tires and all kinds of garbage. Keep in mind that when sharks hurt or kill people it is because the people are invading the shark's world, and not because sharks are invading ours. It's ok for people to seek adventure as long as they fully accept that with adventure comes risk.
Theire life is based on swimming and eating.
