In "Lord of the Flies," the rules change on the mountain as the boys descend into savagery and abandon civilization. The mountain, initially a place of potential rescue and a symbol of order, becomes associated with fear and the unknown, particularly with the imagined "beast." As their societal structure deteriorates, the boys prioritize power and primal instincts over established rules, leading to chaos and violence. This shift highlights the theme of the inherent darkness within human nature when civilization breaks down.
Jumping allows the flea to quickly move onto a new host, increasing its chances of finding a blood meal. Fleas are able to jump long distances relative to their size, making it easier for them to navigate between different potential hosts in their environment. This ability also helps them evade predators and environmental hazards.
Sometimes you don't know as the flea actually spends very little of its life cycle on the dog. Sometimes they just jump on and bite the animal, then off. Various ways you can tell is to rub the hair the opposite way it lies and look for flea poop, little black specks. Look around the base of the tail and on the belly. You can also use a special flea comb to comb through the hair. The best thing to do is to prevent flea infestations. Use a once a month flea preventative such as Frontline, Advantix, etc. to put on their skin. You need to keep the fleas off of your dog as they can cause skin problems, hot spots, tapeworm infestations, as the flea can carry the tapeworm eggs which then can be passed on to the dog when he bites at the flea and accidentally ingests the flea. Now your animal has tapeworms too. So keep the fleas off of your dog by just assuming he has fleas and use a preventative for fleas on your dog.
