Best Answer

frogs travel out onto the pavement at this time because moist nights make for good amphibian travel weather. β€œThey breathe through their skin so they are susceptible to drying out when the sun is out. When it's rainy they can go wherever they want and not worry about it.

Most frogs are active at night. They love humid places for their skin is moist. And while it is moist they can breathe through their skin. Mostly, male frogs croak. They make it during mating season not only to attract female but also to tell other males to stay away and find their own mating places.

Another oddity is that a storm can pick up the eggs, travel on the wind and "rain" the eggs or tadpoles.
