Pro: It's an interesting career in a field you love
If you're considering a career in herpetology you obviously love reptiles. Thus having a job where all you do is study reptiles would most likely make you very happy and it's important to be happy with your work because you will spend most of your life working.
Con: A degree is required
To become a herpetologist a degree is required. The big letdown concerning that is only a few colleges and universities in the United States offer an actual degree in Herpetology. While you can get a degree in Biology if you want some places of employment might require a Herpetology degree because the specialty is so distinctive.
